Abstract: A multiple-agents structure of virtual traffic environment is established. Vehicle agents’ hierarchical model of driving behavior, the sensing, decision-making and operating procedures are analyzed. With the application of fuzzy expert system, a driving behavior model of vehicle agents is established. To simulate drivers’ characteristics in real life, driver factors are added to make the virtual traffic environment in driving simulators closertolife. OpenGVS is used to generate and display the driving virtual scene interactive and in real-time. The result shows that this model can reflect diversity, randomness and fuzziness of real life driving behaviors. This model is generally effective and can provide truer and more satisfying virtual traffic scene in driving simulators.
Key words: driving behavior model, vehicle agent, fuzzy expert system, drivers’ characteristics, driving simulator, virtual traffic scene
